Profile Car & Truck Suspension Boat/Car Trailer Sway Bars Threaded Rods & U Bolts Repairs Contact

Bellamy and East are a Christchurch based leaf and coil spring manufacture and repair shop.

We have been servicing the suspension needs of Christchurch since before the Second World War.

In 1948 the Company name was changed to Bellamy and East Ltd. with activities concentrating mainly on repairing car and truck leaf springs. The introduction of the 30 tonne coining press in the early seventies enabled the manufacturing of engineering short run bracketing, threading and welding.

1978 saw the sale of Bellamy & East Ltd to Tracy Jordan. Four years later, Tracy relocated the company to larger premises in its current location at 58 Falsgrave Street. The Company has undergone a continual machine replacement program to meet the demands of the industry.

The Company began manufacturing short runs of coil springs and can produce coils with wire diameters from 12 to 26mm. With this range of spring steel rounds it is possible to form sway bars for any applications.

The engineering capabilities of the Company have increased from cold pressing to flat sections 100 x 16. The introduction of two thread rolling machines in the late 80’s gave the Company the opportunity to supply a wide range of thread rolled products.

In April 1999, Bellamy and East Ltd was purchased by Anton and Mary Van Tongeren. Their joint commitment to the company has seen the introduction of a fully computerised system, the refurbishment of office facilities and the introduction of a Company Catalogue. More recently the premises have been expanded to include a mechanical operation, which allows for convenient drive-in, drive-out service. The company have recently increased its range of truck parabolic suspension springs and high lift parabolic 4 X 4 suspension kits.

Presently Bellamy & East Ltd have a wide range of experience with over 65 years between the seven full time staff members.
